RICHARD A. LORD, Professor of Law, joined the Campbell faculty in 1982 after serving six years on the faculty of the University of North Dakota School of Law. He has also served as a Visiting Professor of Law at Rutgers University School of Law-Camden, Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis and University of Missouri at Kansas City. Professor Lord earned his B.A. from Alfred University, his J.D. from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis), and his LL.M. from Yale Law School. While in law school, he served as editor-in-chief of the Memphis State University Law Review, graduated first in his class, and was elected to Phi Kappa Phi. Following his graduation he was associated with the firm of Robinson, Fisher and Avery in Memphis, and over the years he has consulted with law firms throughout the country on complex Contract and Commercial Law cases. Professor Lord is the former Associate and Acting Dean of the Law School, and Past International Chancellor of the Delta Theta Phi International Law Fraternity. He is the revising author of the Fourth Edition of Williston on Contracts and the co-author, with Professor Charles Lewis, of Hawkland's Uniform Commercial Code Series (Article 9) and North Carolina Security Interests. Professor Lord is an elected member of the American Law Institute, and is deeply committed to public service. He has served for several years as a volunteer arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau of Eastern North Carolina and in 2002 was appointed by North Carolina Governor Mike Easley to the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. Professor Lord teaches Contracts and Commercial Law. Professor Lord, along with Professor Greg Wallace, serves as the advisor to and coach for the Law School's appellate moot court teams. Over the years, students under their direction have routinely placed among the top five teams in numerous national and regional competitions. In 2003, none of their teams placed lower than 8th; their team placed 2nd in the John Marshall Privacy and Information Law Competition and 3rd in the Jerome Prince Evidence Competition and one of their National Moot Court Teams was a regional semi-finalist and the other a regional quarter-finalist. You may contact Professor Lord by e-mail, lord@law.campbell.edu, or by calling 910-893-1766.
